17 Things I Learned in 2017

In 2017 I went on 22 flights, visited 9 different countries, created over 100 videos and posted to Instagram over 300 times. Let’s just say I’m extremely devoted to my job haha.

2017 was supposed to be the best year of my life – and I’m not saying that it wasn’t, it’s just not what I thought it would be. Big ol ’17 had much bigger things in mind.

2016 was incredible, it was my first year as a full time blogger/youtuber and everything was so fresh and new. I was willing and ready to take 17 by the horns and make it my own and in many ways I did. Career wise I’ve surpassed what I even thought was imaginable and now have a clear focus of what I want for myself in my career and in my life. 2017 really pushed me to my limits and forced me to make huge decisions that have overall made me better myself, I know now that there are no limits to what I can do and achieve and all it takes is hard work and determination.

However in many ways ’17 took me to places that I didn’t know existed ( not geographically but mentally, however fun fact – I did learn that Hawaii is in the middle of absolutely nowhere lol). But for the first time in a long time I wasn’t quite myself, maybe it was the cut-throat break up, the overwhelmingness of the industry that I’m in or the fact that I wasn’t happy with my physical appearance. However seeing these things and realising that I was the only one that could change them was the best and most crucial thing that 2017 taught me.

I’ve written a list of  things that I’ve learned throughout the year and I’d love you to leave a comment on this post letting me know what you think or also what you’ve learned this year.

1.Investing in yourself is the best money you will ever spend.

Halfway through 2017 I decided that I was unhappy with the way I looked and decided to go start going to the gym, after weeks on end of doing things wrong I decided to invest in myself and start seeing a personal trainer, 6 months on and I feel healthier, fitter and more confident in my own skin and this is only just the beginning.

2.You only get what you give.

Karma, simple. You get what you put out into the universe, I’ve always been a firm believer in this and 2017 showed it to be more true than ever.

3.Cut negativity out of your life.

If people are bringing you down or killing your vibe, cut them loose. Life is way too short and they have a direct affect on you and your wellbeing/ mental health. You owe it to yourself to stay positive.

4.I should’ve invested in Bitcoin.

no comment.

5.Tomorrow is a New Day.

No matter what happens within these 24 hours, it all resets and tomorrow is a fresh start. A new 24 hours to slay and improve on yesterday.

6.Less is More.

In our world of over-sharing I’ve come to learn that less is in fact more. I decided to start creating 3 youtube videos a week to see how it went and although I’ve thoroughly enjoyed doing it, it did put a strain on my personal life and I’m not even sure if my audience felt the benefit because it felt like I was drowning in videos.

7.You have to take control of your life.

You’re the only person you can rely on, no one else.

8.Queuing up for 3 hours for sneakers is not ok.

Balenciaga you owe me 3 hours.

9.Everything Happens For a Reason.

This is so so true and If you really take a step back and look at the bigger picture, maybe things that happen are for the best?

10.I have too many clothes.

Hence my broke boys series over on youtube and my effort to depop my life away.

11.Taking time off is ok.

I took some much needed time to myself this year, one because of a semi- breakdown from doing way too much work and one for the Christmas holidays because I damn well deserved it.

12.It’s good to talk about your feelings.

I made a video surrounding world mental health day where I actually opened up about many things in my life and the reaction from you guys was incredible, letting me know that it is ok to talk about how you feel and that it helps others by doing so.

13.Unfollow things that upset you.

the amount of people I’ve blocked and muted this year is HILARIOUS but it makes my daily life so much more pleasant lol.

14.Change is one of my favourite things.

Change is fun! embrace it and roll with it.

15.Don’t let the past define you.

What’s done is done, you can’t change what’s happened – Think about the future.

16.If you stay true to what you believe in, you can’t ever go wrong.

Because at the end of the day you stuck to your guns and did what you thought was right.

17.I don’t have a New Years Resolution, I have a life plan.

People keep asking me what my new years resolution is but I don’t really have one, I have things that I want to improve in my own life but these are on going and a constant path of self improvement.

2018 you better be ready for me because I’m taking no prisoners this year. Game on.
