Life to me is about constant improvement, making things better for myself and those around me. It might sound selfish but we only have one life so why wouldn’t you want to make it the best experience you could possibly have?

I recently had the chance to shoot with the incredible photographer Matt Cuzen, you can see his work here. His epic style of shooting inspires me so much and this location from todays post is in London believe it or not. It got me thinking about the way I look at things and how your mindset is truly what sets you apart from others.

I find myself to be very optimistic about situations, where others might be doubtful or have reservations about certain things. I believe that anyone can do anything if you put your mind to it and that you should give 110% to anything you’re passionate about.

For todays post I’ve written 10 ways to help change your mindset into getting what you want and achieving your goals.

1.You have a choice

As with everything in life you are in control, life is decision after decision and it’s our choices that control our own future. Your job, what you eat, who you are friends with to what you do in your spare time. You have to understand that and apply it to your everyday life. Remember you are also in control of the way you react to other peoples choices.

2. Surround yourself with positivity.

Positivity is so important to your everyday life, whether that’s the company you keep, the media you consume and the thoughts you have. Identify the negativity and remove it from your life, you don’t need it and it’s not helping anyone. Whether that’s your own thoughts or others around you. I remember when I made the decision to get rid of the negativity in my life, things have never been better and I’ve never looked back.

3. Challenge yourself

Always try and do the best you can, with anything. It doesn’t matter if you fail or if you don’t succeed because it’s a learning curve, everybody fails at one point or another, it’s just a stepping stone to success. If you don’t challenge yourself you’re never going to grow. Do things out of your comfort zone and take risks.

4. Have a Plan

Think of what your long term plans/goals are, even if others think they’re impossible, don’t listen to others if they’re trying to stop you from doing something that you think you can do  – you can do it. The higher the ceiling the further you’ll go so set your goals high, Dream Big and get to it.

5. Appreciate others

You are not alone in this, your close friends/family/acquaintances, in fact everyone you meet helps shape and define who you are as a person so remember to appreciate those people in your life. Spread the positivity, encourage others and offer advice where possible. I wouldn’t be where I am today without everyone in my life and it’s important to appreciate them.

6. Make note of your achievements

We spend a lot of time thinking about what we didn’t do or what we didn’t achieve. Take a moment to think about your successes, no matter how big or small, think of how far you’ve come and how much has changed in the past couple of years. Celebrate your achievements and think of what else you could achieve if you put your mind to it.

7. You are not the Victim, you’re the Victor.

If you see yourself as the Victim, others will identify you as the victim too. Never ever perceive yourself as the victim because you’re not. You’re still here, you’re still fighting, like I said earlier you are a product of your own decisions. See yourself as a champion and see how the world champions you.

8. Find your Confidence

I know it might seem hard to change your mindset, especially if you don’t feel confident in the first place. I know I haven’t always felt confident, especially in my appearance but now I do more than ever. Focus on what makes you feel good about yourself, your strengths, your talents. You have to remember there’s no one else in the world like you and you individually have your own unique talents to give. Be confident in what you’re good at and the rest will follow.

9. Don’t focus on competition – Aim Higher

I’m really not interested in what any of my competition is up to because I know that I have bigger plans, I’m in my own lane and you should be in your own lane too. The only competition I have is with myself and that’s the best kind to have. Don’t concern yourself with others, think about bettering yourself.

10. Smash your goals

Show the world what you’re capable of, get better at what you do, get better at what you don’t do. Give people what they don’t expect, take on criticisms. Not only do you want to succeed in whatever you’re doing but you want to reveal your value. It’s not a race, you can go as slow as you want as long as you’re focusing on improving and growing from where you were yesterday.
