2016 has been one hell of a year, in both ways. As a species we’ve experienced devastation after devastation, loss after loss and as we roll into 2017 I can’t help but feel a little deflated but in my eyes, for 2017 – things can only get better. I’m a big advocate of positive thinking and I do genuinely believe that we create our own luck. Personally this year has been the best of my life so far in terms of career, personal development, relationships etc. I’m ready to take 2017 by the horns and make it an even better year than 2016. This post is in collaboration with Movado, I’m wearing the new Movado Edge watch in this outfit, its unique design got me thinking about time and how precious it is. I really like the fact that the watch face does not contain any digits or numerals –  It was conceived by designer Yves Behar who looked towards the museum dial for inspiration – “We do not know time as a number sequence but by the position of the sun as the earth rotates,” said Horwitt In 1947. The minimal and futuristic design is so effortless and the idea of time without numbers is an inspiration to me, so I thought I’d share with you guys my personal goals for the coming year, they’re not definite things to achieve but more of an ongoing way of improving my lifestyle, which is how we should all think? no? I hope to inspire you to make your own goals and start 2017 at 110%.

Dream Big

I’ve written many a post about achieving your goals, dreaming big, making the impossible, possible and that will never stop. Like I always say, the job I’m doing now is my dream job, so what’s next? In the future I do want to have my own clothing line (I’ve had one in the past – If you’ve been around long enough then you’ll know what it was called!) so it’s not like it’s something that’s completely new to me, I’m biding my time until I can do something that I’m completely and utterly over the moon with. It’s definitely not something you can rush and I’ve seen it happen to lots of people, I don’t want to produce half-hearted designs etc. It may not be in 2017 but it’s definitely a goal for the future, so everyone asking on YouTube – believe me, it’s coming.

Exceed my own expectations

This can seem like a big ask but I want to push myself in all aspects of life, Content creation, Time Management, Health and Fitness etc. I’ve seen a lot of people like ‘ In 2017 I want more followers, subscribers etc’ but for me It’s not a numbers game. I value each and everyone one of you guys and I’m going to focus on improving what I create for you in terms of Videos, Imagery, Personal Style. I love creating content, it feels like second nature to me and If you believe that you can do it, with enough hard work and determination you can definitely get there. So in short I’m going to have to surpass everything I’ve achieved this year and make it all even better, not only for you guys but also for myself.

Make more time for my friends and family

I’ll admit – I work , ALOT. I don’t see it as a bad thing though, as I was saying earlier – I love creating content, I love everything about my job, I basically just love clothes. So for me it’s not about working too hard or overworking etc because it doesn’t really feel like work. It’s a love affair with a hobby, turned career that never has time off. If you’re also a blogger, youtuber, instagrammer etc you’ll know that there’s always something to do. Always something to be done, whether it’s creating content, watching/reading other peoples content – improving your site, improving your editing skills, snapchatting, tweeting orr even just shopping for new clothes.

So with that all being said – sometimes I do feel guilty that I’m not giving my friends and family my full attention so I think for 2017 I need to make more of a conscious effort to spend time with my loved ones. Ignore my phone, put it on silent, savour the moments instead of snapchatting every single thing. It’s going to be difficult for me as I’m so used to sharing every aspect of my life but I think it will definitely be worth it, I also owe it to the people who are closest to me.

Willpower

This is something that I’m not very good at – saving money, going to the gym, cooking at home etc. I feel like these are such generic new years resolutions but I do genuinely need to do them all – I was having a good stint at the gym between August – November but it really started to slack when I went to Japan and then Bangkok, I’ve just felt so busy with work that my personal fitness took a back seat. This definitely needs to change as I only have 1 body and need to look after it the best that I can. So eating out less and going to the gym more is high on my list of things to do in 2017 – I also want to save up for my own home in London (which is insanely expensive) so saving money is high on the agenda too.

Travel

Just to put things in perspective, In my 2016 personal goals Travel was top of the list and now I’ve been on 9 trips this year – I used to go away on a maximum of 1/2 vacations each year from when I was younger to when I was working full time. If you’ve read my previous post on how to travel with your blog, I’ve definitely fully engaged with the ‘I can work from anywhere’ aspect of my self employed lifestyle. This is so so important to me personally because I want to see the world, I want to experience different cultures, try new things and gain a new perspective on everything. So for me 2017 will be about gaining even more life experience through travel whilst documenting everything along the way. I fall in love with my content all over again when I travel so it’s also a great way to find inspiration.

They’re my personal goals for 2017 – what’re some of yours? do you have the same goals? Leave a comment below to let me know, as always thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to take 2017 by the horns. I’d like to say a big thank you to Movado for collaborating with me on this post – you can check out more of their watches here.
