Sometimes we’re too busy working towards our goals to think about what we’ve accomplished already – you have to think for a moment and take a step back to look at what you’ve achieved. The outfit today is mainly from a brand called BBP which is a premium streetwear brand, their pieces have been worn by the likes of Jay-Z and Beyonce and when they approached me to work with me I was really honoured. The collaboration made me think that what I do here on my blog/youtube etc is really recognised by people within the industry and it means so much to me that you guys come here to read what I write, like the pictures I post and watch the videos I create – I’m forever thankful for that, It’s only just begun really but it’s been a long journey so far and I wanted to share some of my tips with you. Whatever it is that you’re working towards perspective is important. I in no way have reached my life goals however I feel like I’m on the right path and I’m proud to say I have accomplished a lot in my life so far.

After University I was sort of lost, I’d graduated with a degree that I wasn’t 100% sure I wanted to pursue a career in – I had little to no experience in the Fashion Industry which was where I wanted to be. I moved to London in the hopes of getting a job in retail but had no luck – I was blogging throughout university and if someone had said to me that in 3 Years time you’d be a full time blogger I would’ve been like ‘yeah right, that would be a dream come true’. Well those dreams are now a reality and it came with time, patience and a lot of hard work. So for todays post I wanted to give you some tips on how to reach your goals – whatever they may be.

1. Dream Big

No matter what your goal is make sure it’s big. To set yourself a goal is to know that you’re working towards something – if you have a small goal and reach it then there’s not much left to do. Also don’t think that it will never happen because that’s the wrong attitude to have. Don’t worry about it seeming like a near impossible achievement because in the next tip I’ll explain what you can do to make it more manageable. I have huge life goals and as I’ve said in previous articles – anyone is capable of anything. Most of my friends laugh at me when I say what I want to do or achieve, some people think I’m never going to reach them but guess what – I will.

2. Break It Down

Like I was saying – don’t worry about your goals seeming too big because what you do then is break it down into smaller goals. For example, I love blogging and dreamt of it one day being my full time job, so in my head to do this, I needed to blog, regularly. You have to see your main goal and think of what steps you need to take to eventually reach that goal. I set myself a schedule and have been sticking to that blogging schedule for 2 years now – the small everyday tasks can amount to something huge over time which brings me on to my next step.

3.Commit

Commitment is one of the biggest dream killers, If you’re not committed then of course it’s not going to happen. You have to really live and breathe what you do to the point where it’s just second nature to you. Whether you want to start your own brand, get a promotion at work or even become a blogger. Let’s say you want to start your own brand, you should be thinking all the time of ways to better your brand, thinking of ways to promote your product, constantly improving your services and brand awareness. I’m not saying to not take breaks and things like this but I’ve met a lot of people who say they’re photographers – yet haven’t shot anything in months, I’ve met bloggers who haven’t blogged in awhile and I’ve met brands who haven’t released anything new in ages. What I’m saying is that I think giving 110% and fully committing to your goal shows how much you want it and people will see that, this kind of determination really pushes you above the rest.

The right mindset and attitude has a real effect on how you reach your goals. You have to understand that you CAN reach your goal and no one else can tell you otherwise. Thinking positively has definitely got me where I am today, I was unsure of what I wanted to do but I knew the general area of where I wanted to work so I explored it all with a positive attitude. I knew I could work in the Fashion Industry – so I kept trying and trying until I finally got work. I knew I could do styling – so I assisted for a long time and then I became a stylist. I knew I could be a blogger because I was already doing it but I knew that I loved doing it so much that I went full throttle and applied myself. Don’t ever think that you can’t do something because all you need is time.

5. Mistakes are OK

Making mistakes is so important, I’ve failed so many times over the years. I couldn’t get a job in retail after 6 interviews here in London – which was annoying because I knew I could do it. However this didn’t deter me – positive attitude and all that! I realised that It was an opportunity to try a different avenue, work in the industry from a different angle. Whatever career path you’ve chosen or even if it’s just a hobby you have to understand that we learn from our mistakes. Mistakes are welcomed because they teach you how to deal with these situations next time they come around.

6. Working as a Team

One of the most important things to do is to surround yourself with likeminded people. You’ll bounce off each others creativity and achievements. If I didn’t live in London, if I didn’t have the friends to support me and help me then my blog would probably look very different than it does today. You have to network, reach out to others with the similar goals as you and work together to achieve them. A support group is very important, whether it’s your best friends, your family or a group of people you talk to on the internet.

7. Believe in Yourself

Believing in yourself is key. It goes hand in hand with thinking positively, You have to take a deep breath and make decisions because you believe in your own judgement. This has really helped me on my way to reaching my goals, even when I was taking outfit pictures on a self time in my back garden – okay I know that at the time my photography wasn’t the best but I understood that – however I believed in my own style and confidence and knew that was enough for people to look past the photography and see my outfit, to hopefully give people inspiration for their own outfits because after all that’s what I do as a fashion blogger and it’s as simple as that.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this article and if you have any goals or questions I’d love to hear them so please leave a comment below. Thank you for your time!
